Nik first played with his son Mark in a band in 1981 called 'Traitors Gate' with Dan Thompson on drums. Their demo was produced by Danny Thompson (senior) and was played to producer Tony Visconti who offered the boys a day at Good Earth Studio, London Mark was only 18 at that time and had already written an albums worth of material. 

 

The Nik Wymer Band was formed in 1996 by guitarist - songwriter Mark Wymer Niks’ son and Darwin Coe - drummer. A few years after that we asked Jason Dighton to try out some material with us in the studio and he was far the best musician and bassist we could of hoped for after a few line-up changes.

 

In 1999 NWB recorded a 12 track CD called ‘Time Will Tell’ featuring the new 4 piece line-up at the Springvale Studio, Ipswich, Suffolk and was produced by The Nik Wymer Band and Mark Harwood. 

We all like the challenge of different styles of playing some retro, rock, blues, funk, soul and sometimes jazz influences which really conected the band together as a mutual presentation.

 

News for 2015!

The Band has played live when we can and we have all individually worked with other bands and other musical projects over the last 30 years plus which has been amazing. This year we hope to be recording a special EP of some new material.

Recently we have had some positive feedback and are still looking for new oportunities to take the Nik Wymer Band to the next level and create a bigger fan base to share our work and also give music lovers the chance to discover us for the first time.

 

Original line-up NWB from Ipswich Suffolk, England. This is an exciting band with high energy and stage charisma and a wonderful chemistry as a live experience.

 

All members of the band play various different instruments and are all talented self-taught musicians and creative people.

 

Mark Wymer the lead guitarist is the main songwriter in the band but, we all contribute creatively with orginal songs and arangements as a real band. 

 

Nik has been playing for the longest and now has over 50 years of experience in the music business.

The sound of Niks voice has been compared to Joe Cocker, Roger Chapman & Steve Marriot in the past but he is a unique performer in his own right.

 

All of us are now working together again and have great ideas and enthusiasm for 2015.
